of Service
Services
Graphic
design services offered include print design, website and
web ad design, logo and identity design and large format
display design. Design related photography is also
available. Designs are intended primarily for promotional
and advertising.
Rates
Issuing estimates is preferred
for most job requests. Barhorst Creative uses a flat rate
system of $50 per page (per side) of any design work. Per
page discounts apply for multiple page works, such as
newsletters for example. Updates to existing designs
created by Barhorst Creative carry a discounted rate of $35
per page. A standard rate of $50 an hour may apply to any
job without an estimate (minimum 1 hour). A rate of $30 an
hour may apply to any design related photography without an
estimate (minimum 1 hour).
Proofing
All
proofing is conducted online through emails. There is no
proof charge for online proofing. When a proof is ready,
you will be sent an email with a PDF attachment and
instructions for proofing your design. Reply to the email
or call with any changes. If changes are needed a second
proof will be issued and so on (up to 5) until the design
is approved. Once a design is approved, final artwork will
be created for distribution to a third-party printer or
service bureau.
Delivery
In
most cases, completed artwork is delivered as press-ready
PDFs designed for commercial printing or as high-quality
PDFs for in-house printing on a digital printer at your
location. Photo editing projects are delivered as high
quality JPG files at maximum resolution.
Payment
Invoices are sent via email as
attached PDF files that can be easily printed. A summary is
provided in the text portion of the email. You will not
receive a paper invoice sent via regular. Services are
billed within 1 week of completion of design jobs. Net
payment due 10 days after receipt.
Copyright and Usage Rights
Barhorst Creative retains copyright on all works it
produces. Barhorst Creative follows the AIGA (American
Institute of Graphic Arts) standards for copyright with
respect to graphic design and extending usage rights to
clients. Barhorst Creative retains all rights and extends
usage rights for reproduction and display of artwork to
clients for a set period of time (2 years). At the standard
rate, clients receive reproduction and display usage rights
for 2 years for artwork.*
Display
of Works
Barhorst
Creative has the right to publicly distribute copies and/or
display any work created for any use including promotional
uses such as in a portfolio, advertising or on a website.
* Copyright: Under US law, by default copyright is owned by
the creator of the work, in this case Barhorst Creative.
Exclusive rights under copyright include the rights to (1)
reproduce, (2) display, and (3) make adaptations
(“derivative works”) based on the work.
Following AIGA standards, Barhorst Creative retains all
these rights and extends usage rights for reproduction and
display of artwork to clients for a set period of time (2
years). Any subsequent changes to artwork should be done by
Barhorst Creative. After 2 years, all rights revert back to
Barhorst Creative.
